Industrial painting can create some strange working angles on the job-site, many of which aren’t classified as standing with your feet shoulder-width apart and your hands at an optimal distance for viewing your iPad. These angles can create frustration as your iPad switches back and forth between landscape and portrait orientations.
Luckily, locking screen orientation is a lot easier than moving your iPad around to constantly reset the orientation. You can easily lock your iPad into either landscape or portrait mode, whichever works best for you. The way we’re going to explain this assumes that you’re using your side switch to mute your device. This can be set up under General > Settings.
First, start by swiping to unlock your iPad, then double-click the Home button. This will bring up a row at the bottom of the screen. From here, swipe from left to right. You’ll see the Orientation icon on the left and this is where the magic happens.
To lock, hold your iPad in the position you’d like to keep and tap the icon. Now, your iPad will remain in the correct orientation – no matter what angle you need to hold it. To unlock, return to the screen through the steps above and tap on the icon again. After that, your iPad is ready to rotate as needed.
Whether you’re recording painting spec readings on the side of a bridge or searching an industrial painting PDF from the comfort of your desk, understanding the iPad’s settings can help you work smarter.
